Postgraduate studies
Hi everyone :p, in this exact moment I’m finishing all the subjects of this semester and I’m a little stressed out because of that… so if you ask me today about post-graduate studies I’m going to cry, or laugh, or maybe both. Anyway, if you ask me the same question when the semester is over then it’ll be a different story.
I’m studying
sound engineering right now and there are many different topics that you could
choose to keep studying. In my case I prefer the artistic side of the career
more than the numbers and the physics. When it comes to choose a topic I can
think of two of them. On one side I like a lot the world of the Sound Design
and the Sonic Arts... which is an area that’s related to sound synthesis, sound production for movies, for video games,
theatre, multimedia interactions, sound installations and of course
interdisciplinary works with other people. On the other hand I like a lot
electronic instruments and electronic music… this year I designed and built my
own digital music instrument and I would love to make more of them, so studying
electronics applied to music could be a good way to learn more and develop my
skills to get better at it. Even the two topics that I mentioned could sound
very opposite, in fact they are related. Many artworks and installations of
Sound Art are based on electronic music instruments, sensors and interfaces
that can provide interesting interactions between sound and another forms of
art.
It would be
very nice to study the topics that I mentioned here in Chile, but there are no
universities or institutions that provides them as post-graduate degrees so I would
have to go abroad to study them. Anyway, if it is in Chile or in the other side
of the world the only thing I ask is to not having on-line classes.
Bye :)
your digital musical instrument looks amazing! I would love to see and hear how it works.
ResponderEliminarthanks for sharing, I didn't even know that there were subjects and topics like that
That object looks very interesting, I would like to hear what sound it makes, I hope you can do more digital musical instruments in the future :)
ResponderEliminarGood job friend, it would be great if you could tell us a little more about that instrument, good luck with your plans.
ResponderEliminarOmg, I'd love to hear that instrument, it looks so fascinating. There's a teacher of the Faculty of arts named Mónica Bate that works with sound, electronic and digital machines! Here is one of her works : http://etab.cl/monica-bate/?p=613
ResponderEliminarIt's so interesting the artistic side of your career. Reading your blog I remembered Zimoun's exhibition in MAC.
ResponderEliminarNo, please never again online classes shdfjks I love what you tell us, in arts there are several teachers who also work on sound in works of art, my workshop teacher Jorge Cabieses does crazy things like that. I find the instrument you made very interesting <3
ResponderEliminarWow! That is so interesting. And those pictures look very impressive. I know almost nothing about the things that you mentioned but there are some things that are related to my area, cuz I'm studying drama. And yes! No more online please, specially if we are talking about classes in other countries.
ResponderEliminarI don't know so much about sounds and music, but what you are telling us is so fascinating!
