Blog 8 - My experience studying english

Time flies. This is the last blog of the semester and I’m going to talk about the experience of learning English at university. In my case, when I entered to my first semester in 2017 I did the English test and I got to English IV… BUT I didn’t take the subject until my eighth semester because of my schedule and the workload that I already told you about. So my experience studying English here it has only been on-line. I enjoyed the classes because I got the chance to practice my pronunciation and casual conversations that requires some sort of mental fluency. Plus, in the first classes I felt very shy to the idea of speaking english like “in public”, but along the semester I become more and more comfortable. About the blogs, I think they are a really really good idea given the circumstances of the pandemic and online classes. Writing blogs are useful for practice our writing skills and it’s helpful to get to know other classmates, their careers, personal interest, and many things th...

Changes to my Study programme

Hi everyone, today I’ll post my reflections on the programme of my career, Sound Engineering. My career is defined by this university as mixture between science, arts and technology. Because of that we have a curriculum that includes music studies, music production techniques, mathematics, physics, acoustics, electronics, coding, etc. It is very nice to have the chance to learn about those different topics, nevertheless, it implies a very heavy workload that even makes many students to drop the career. Just in this semester I have to course 9 (!!!) subjects, and I am up to date with the curriculum. It’s just that the career is designed in a way that you get an insane workload. The semester that I had the smallest number of subjects they were 7. So… that is one thing that I would definitely change about my career, and it is not that hard. Depending on what subjects you choose on the fourth and fifth year of the career, you can have a specialization: Signals, or sound productio...

Hi everyone :p,  in this exact moment I’m finishing all the subjects of this semester and I’m a little stressed out because of that… so if you ask me today about post-graduate studies I’m going to cry, or laugh, or maybe both. Anyway, if you ask me the same question when the semester is over then it’ll be a different story. I’m studying sound engineering right now and there are many different topics that you could choose to keep studying. In my case I prefer the artistic side of the career more than the numbers and the physics. When it comes to choose a topic I can think of two of them. On one side I like a lot the world of the Sound Design and the Sonic Arts... which is an area that’s related to sound synthesis,   sound production for movies, for video games, theatre, multimedia interactions, sound installations and of course interdisciplinary works with other people. On the other hand I like a lot electronic instruments and electronic music… this year I designed and built ...
